Trying to find a new foundation

I have yet to find my holy grail foundation. I've tried lots but just can't seem to find one I like. I tend to go for drugstore makes, generally because they are cheaper than that such as MAC. But this always has its drawbacks; foundation wearing off quickly, making my skin look terrible etc.

What I want from a foundation:

  • For it to be long lasting, it's such a faff when you have to touch up foundation after only a few hours!
  • Not make my skin look greasy or shiny. I have normal/combination skin.
  • To feel light on my skin; I hate the heaviness that some foundations seem when applied on the skin, especially now that it is summer.
  • Not be a bugger to remove!

If anyone has any good suggestions for foundations under the £15/£10 mark, I'd be grateful for the recommendations :)

Maybe I should just splash out and buy a mac foundation...?

  1. I used to use Maxfactor Lasting Finish foundation before I started using Revlon Colourstay foundation. They're both around the £9 mark. I need good coverage so I kinda have to go with these formulations. If you want soemthing lighter on the skin then Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse foundation or Dream Satin foundation is supposed to be good. Hope this helps! X

  2. Hi there! I have recently written a lot of foundation reviews in my blog, just in case you want to check it out. My advice is to have a look at pharmacy brands: they are on the cheap side but the quality is awesome sometimes. Avene, La Roche Posay, Vichy and others have got amazing foundations with the characteristics you are looking for.

  4. If you want something long lasting I really recommend Estee Lauder Double Wear. It stays put all day and definitely doesn't turn shiny. The only thing is it's around £22 a bottle but I only need to buy one every 6 months - and I use it every day. So they last ages!

  6. It seems like everything you want is something that I'm using right now. It's Dior Forever foundation. It's very light and feels like water, but it's medium coverage and stay put the whole day and also has SPF 25. It's fantastic! It's expensive but I think it's important to splurge on an awesome foundation since making your skin appear nice is the most important thing.
